A new product: curcumin C3 Reduct
Yesterday I received an alert about a new curcumin formulation (made by Sabinsa Corporation, which produces the C3 Complex curcumin that many of us take). This new formulation, called “Curcumin C3 Reduct,” is apparently more bioavailable than the “old” C3 Complex. It is also allegedly more stable and potent…Etc. etc. etc.
This morning I wrote a message to Sabinsa Corp, asking specifically if they knew when this new product will be available to the general public. Thanks to this summary, I found out that it is going to be launched in March at the Engredea Show (never heard of it) in Anaheim, California: http://goo.gl/g5hCv
You can read the Sabinsa Corp press release here: http://goo.gl/2Lf6r
And here’s an interesting fact sheet, provided by Sabinsa: http://goo.gl/8VuXi In particular, check out the answer to “Are Tetrahydrocurcuminoids naturally occurring in the plant kingdom?” The answer is yes…But what I found interesting is that THCs can be found in small quantities in ginger and Curcuma zedoaria. I also thought the part about how curcumin is converted into THC was interesting…Anyway, worth checking out when we have more time…
Now, it’s true that all of this information is provided by Sabinsa, the manufacturer. Even so, the new product has my attention, and I’ll be curious to buy and try it. But first I have to try Meriva…that’s next on my list.
I think it’s great that new curcumin products are coming onto the market…I mean, wouldn’t it be fabulous if they worked BETTER than the old ones…and at a lower dosage, to boot…
Ah yes, that would indeed be superamazinglyfantastic&fabbbbbbulous!

thanks Margaret!!!!

Interesting. I’m just studying the biodiversity of curcumin. After a six-monthly check my blood values ??are still stable. I talked to my doctor about curcumin. She was interested and wants to study it when medicine for my are needed. (Hum, is this still English? Google translate makes a mess of it.

I searched and found that the New Curcumin C3 from Sabinsa is available from ” America’s Finest” Company. It is therefore already on the market. I just wonder how it compares to the Life-extension product, because they recommend the same dosage, 400 mg.

Gee Margaret. That’s a different THC than I’m used to hearing about but it’s good news.

Hi, I just ran across this and thought I could answer some of the questions since Sabinsa is one of my clients and I know about this product. The company is an ingredient supplier for science backed ingredients. This new product, C3 Reduct is not the same as the original Curcumin C3. It will be introduced as an ingredient at Engredea/Natural Products Expo West next month, but is not in any finished products yet. America’s Finest should have it soon, as well as a number of other product manufacturers. You can always ask manufacturers whose products you like if they will have it, just make sure you specify C3 Reduct and not original C3.

It appears that the C3 Reduct product is a white powder (!) consisting of tetrahydrocurcuminoids/THC, which are metabolites of curcumin. I found this study after a brief search. It claims that curcumin was efficient at blocking the NF-kappaB pathway, leading to downregulation of COX-2, cyclin D1 and VEGF. These are all very important to cancer protection. THC, on the other hand, was supposedly completely ineffective at blocking NF-kappaB. Curcumin, demethoxycurcumin, bisdemethoxycurcumin, tetrahydrocurcumin and turmerones differentially regulate anti-inflammatory and anti-proliferative responses through a ROS-independent mechanism http://carcin.oxfordjournals.org/content/28/8/1765.full

Hi everyone, are there any updates about Reduct? Is anyone planning on trying it? How do you plan to use it? I currently take 8g of Drs Best C3 and would be most interested in trying this new product as it promises better bioavailability. Hopefully, we can all share our thoughts and experiences with this ! Thanks !

I have not found anything new about Reduct. Hope one of us will hear about it soon. I am using the Super Bio-Curcumin from Life Extension, but I am open to anything with more bioavailablity. Thanks for staying on top of this.
