Yoga reduces levels of IL-6

A new study (see: http://tinyurl.com/ydambjq) has showed that women who regularly practice yoga have reduced levels of the cytokine IL-6, which, as we know, is a major myeloma growth factor and has also been implicated in heart disease, stroke, type-2 diabetes, arthritis and a host of other age-related debilitating diseases.   1. Yep! Another evidence of the mind-body connection. I would venture to say that meditation would most likely give similar results. As a psychotherapist, I also believe that dealing with traumatic events from the past, or a traumatic childhood or continuing toxic environments, be they familial or social, is sooooo important to live Zen-like – ok, less stressed.
