A new product: curcumin C3 Reduct

Yesterday I received an alert about a new curcumin formulation (made by Sabinsa Corporation, which produces the C3 Complex curcumin that many of us take). This new formulation, called “Curcumin C3 Reduct,” is apparently more bioavailable than the “old” C3 Complex. It is also allegedly more stable and potent…Etc. etc. etc.

This morning I wrote a message to Sabinsa Corp, asking specifically if they knew when this new product will be available to the general public. Thanks to this summary, I found out that it is going to be launched in March at the Engredea Show (never heard of it) in Anaheim, California: http://goo.gl/g5hCv

You can read the Sabinsa Corp press release here: http://goo.gl/2Lf6r

And here’s an interesting fact sheet, provided by Sabinsa: http://goo.gl/8VuXi In particular, check out the answer to “Are Tetrahydrocurcuminoids naturally occurring in the plant kingdom?” The answer is yes…But what I found interesting is that THCs can be found in small quantities in ginger and Curcuma zedoaria. I also thought the part about how curcumin is converted into THC was interesting…Anyway, worth checking out when we have more time…

Now, it’s true that all of this information is provided by Sabinsa, the manufacturer. Even so, the new product has my attention, and I’ll be curious to buy and try it. But first I have to try Meriva…that’s next on my list.

I think it’s great that new curcumin products are coming onto the market…I mean, wouldn’t it be fabulous if they worked BETTER than the old ones…and at a lower dosage, to boot…

Ah yes, that would indeed be superamazinglyfantastic&fabbbbbbulous! 🙂

  1. Interesting. I’m just studying the biodiversity of curcumin. After a six-monthly check my blood values ??are still stable. I talked to my doctor about curcumin. She was interested and wants to study it when medicine for my are needed. (Hum, is this still English? Google translate makes a mess of it. 🙂

  2. I searched and found that the New Curcumin C3 from Sabinsa is available from ” America’s Finest” Company. It is therefore already on the market. I just wonder how it compares to the Life-extension product, because they recommend the same dosage, 400 mg.

  3. So sorry, I just spoke with a Sabinsa Representative and the new produc Curcumin C3 Reduct is not coming out for sale for another month. He could not give me a specific answer who will be selling it. We just have to wait.

  4. Hi, I just ran across this and thought I could answer some of the questions since Sabinsa is one of my clients and I know about this product. The company is an ingredient supplier for science backed ingredients. This new product, C3 Reduct is not the same as the original Curcumin C3. It will be introduced as an ingredient at Engredea/Natural Products Expo West next month, but is not in any finished products yet. America’s Finest should have it soon, as well as a number of other product manufacturers. You can always ask manufacturers whose products you like if they will have it, just make sure you specify C3 Reduct and not original C3.

    1. Hello Sue,

Can I ask why you have started taking the Biomor curcumin and how effective has it been for you? Does it have any side effects? Many thanks!

  5. It appears that the C3 Reduct product is a white powder (!) consisting of tetrahydrocurcuminoids/THC, which are metabolites of curcumin.

I found this study after a brief search. It claims that curcumin was efficient at blocking the NF-kappaB pathway, leading to downregulation of COX-2, cyclin D1 and VEGF. These are all very important to cancer protection. THC, on the other hand, was supposedly completely ineffective at blocking NF-kappaB.

Curcumin, demethoxycurcumin, bisdemethoxycurcumin, tetrahydrocurcumin and turmerones differentially regulate anti-inflammatory and anti-proliferative responses through a ROS-independent mechanism

  6. Hi everyone, are there any updates about Reduct? Is anyone planning on trying it? How do you plan to use it? I currently take 8g of Drs Best C3 and would be most interested in trying this new product as it promises better bioavailability. Hopefully, we can all share our thoughts and experiences with this ! Thanks !

  7. Just checked with Sabinsa and here are finished products that now have the new C3 reduct:

    EffiHealth, Prostorix http://www.prostorix.com

Anti Aging Essentials is a company that’s using C3 Reduct: http://www.perfectlyyounger.com/content/Tetrahydrocurcumin.htm

    Dougas Labs’s Resvera-GoldR Joint Support http://www.douglaslabs.com/pdf/pds/8500.pdf

Above 2 are multi ingredient products which include C3 Reduct.

Future Biotics will soon introduce a stand alone C3 Reduct product.

  8. I have not found anything new about Reduct. Hope one of us will hear about it soon. I am using the Super Bio-Curcumin from Life Extension, but I am open to anything with more bioavailablity. Thanks for staying on top of this.

  9. Does anybody have any idea when this product will be commercially available? I live in the US and will be visiting India in June and would like to take it for my dad who has MM.
    Thanks
    Vijay

  10. I contacted Sabinsa and learned they only sell
    kilo lots for $320.00

I will try to follow up on Suzanne’s suggestions.

Anything new on this list would be appreciated

  11. Hi Len:
I got my Curcumin C3 Reduct from America”s Finest Inc.
    20 Lake Dr.
    Suite 154
    East Windsor, N.J. 08520
    Phone: 732-985-9899
    Hope this helps.

  12. I forgot to tell you that America’s Finest just got its shipment of Curcumin C3 Reduct when I called them last week. Each capsule contains 200 mg which is equivalent to the 1000 mg tablet of Curcumin C3 with Biosperine. The capsules contain white powder. I love them, no big pills for me anymore. Beatrice

  13. Beatrice, I don’t see it on their website, are you opening these capsules up, or taking them as is? I had a problem with their cuurcumoids capsules and was upset how they handled it, –is there bioperiene in the ones you are taking now? What is the cost of them, thanks.

  14. Again, note the study I posted April 9 suggesting that THC has very different properties from curcumin and is not able to inhibit cancer pathways such as NF-kappaB. Not sure how the activity of the two substances would compare in vivo, but overall I am in no hurry to switch.

  15. Hi Jaimie:
You can see from the outside , that the capsules contain a white powder. There is no biosperiene in them The cost for 30 capsules is $16. You have to call them: 732-985-9899.
    Hi John:
Thanks for your remark about the action of THC. I am not completely switching over yet, still taking my CurcuminC3 with biosperine plus the C-Reduct. If you hear anymore about the difference please post. Many thanks, Beatrice

  16. Just came across the blog, outstanding and thanks to all that participate. I have been diagnosed with MGUS and have rising Free Light Chains. started taking 6g daily of C3 complex with bioperine (Dr Best) and have been feeling just terrific since I started the regimen. Hoping next blood work will show a reversal of the rising trend. Just wondering if anyone else has experience with curcumin and FLC issue. Many thanks in advance. Also, I haven’t read of any potential curcumin toxicity but just wondering if I missed something.

  17. I looked on America’s Finest Inc website and didn’t find Curcumin C3 Reduct when searching the products on sale but I note that Beatrice (message above) purchased her’s from this company. Perhaps I should just ring them – bit expensive because I am in the UK but this myeloma business is expensive!! I was wondering how much Curcumin C3 Reduct cost and if anybody else has bought this product yet.

  18. Hi Vicki:
Ijust reordered the curcumin C3 reduct from America’s Finest. You are correct, it is not on their website yet, and I questioned them about it, they just have not gotten around to it yet, I was told. Hope that they will put it on Amazon, as they did with the Curcumin C3. I have not had my MGUS blood tests yet, but must say that it has helped with my arthritic knee problem, much improved. For that reason alone, I will continue taking it in combination with the Life Extension Superbio curcumin.

  19. Thank you Margaret for keeping us updated on MM research. After watching an interview of Dr.Mercola with T.N.Seyfried, MD on Cancer as a Metabolic Disease I was fascinated with his theory of treating cancer metabolicly. I dug deep into my pocket and bought Dr. Seyfried’s Book on “Cancer as a Metabolic Disease.” The main punch appears to be the cancer cells dependence on Glucose. This is a very complex issue and not easily explained, but makes fascinating reading.

  20. Hello Margaret,
I’m tired all of the time and I have high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Did you get a chance to try that curcumin C3 reduct? So it’s $320.00 per kilo. Will Sabinsa sell it to me? Your articles are very helpful. Thank you. I really appreciate your help.

  21. Hi. I have started my husband on Curcumin. He has AL Amyloidosis which is a condition associated with MM. I am hoping that it will have an effect on his FLCs. I am using a product called Curcumin X4000 which is supposed to have really superior absorption. It is billed as Meriva bioavailable Curcumin. Manufactured by GoodHealthUSA. Is this similar to the C3 Reduct does anyone know?

  22. Hi guys, all comments of every partipant is informative and I am looking for next blog. Just asking a quick question to everyone and i hope you can help me. My father is diagnosed of stage 4 lung cancer and metastasized to the liver. He is on taxol every week. I learned turmeric from a friend of mine and I started him right away but after 2 days of taking the curcumincapsule, he complained of abdominal pain. Please advise me…. Thanks.

  23. Hello Margaret,

It would be good to get an update on Reduct. I have been trying to buy the dr best curcumin c3 complex with bioperine 1000mg and it seems to be out of stock wherever i search. as i don’t have much left i might have to buy the 500mg instead and take 16 tablets!

Do you know what is going on?

    Thanks

    Dieneke

Pd off chemo now for 3 years, cancer count still going down. My consultant now has to believe it is curcumin.

  24. Hi,
Vitacost is selling Curcumin C3 reduct on their website for 16.99 (60 tablets) while America’s finest is selling 30 tablets for 19.99. Are both the products the same or is the Vitacost product in any way “inferior” to America’s finest?
Also, has anybody had different/better results with Curcumin C3 reduct over good old Curcumin with Bioprene?
My dad has MM and have been taking 9.2 grams of curcumin from Vitacost (8 tablets at 1160 grams per tablet) for the last 3 years. We are not sure if it is doing him any good. He had a stem cell transplany 2 years ago and had a relapse 6 months back. He is on Revlimid and velcade now.
    Thanks
    Vijay

  25. Looking closely at the label on our bottle of C3 Curcumin from VitaCost, the 1,160 mg is per serving, not per capsule/pill. Two caps = 1 serving. So your dad is getting half of the amount you are shooting for. We too were “fooled” by this…

    1. Hi Julie,
Thanks for setting me straight. I was under the impression that my dad was taking 8 grams of curcumin when in reality he was only taking 4.6 grams. We have upped his dosage and hopefully the results should be better now. The label is slightly misleading but in the manufacturer’s defense, i should have read (and understood) what the label clearly states…..
      Thanks
      Vijay
